Spinnaker Tower Achieves Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge

Spinnaker Tower has achieved its Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge, a nationally recognised indicator of good quality educational provision. The Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge is the only national award combining the essential elements of provision – learning and safety – into a trusted accreditation scheme for all types of learning outside the classroom provider.

Learning outside the classroom is about raising young people’s achievement through an organised, powerful approach to learning in which direct experience is of prime importance. Meaningful learning occurs through acquiring skills through real life hands-on activities.

Learning outside the classroom tackles social mobility, addresses educational inequality and supports improved standards back inside the classroom.

The Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge means that Spinnaker Tower has passed a robust assessment designed to ensure that we are meeting schools’ learning and risk management needs, no matter what activity is chosen.

Spinnaker Tower offers school groups an opportunity to get out of the classroom and into the clouds! From the three observation decks at the top of the Tower, your classroom activities will be brought to life where your pupils will see and experience the dramatic coastline and views – whatever the weather.

Free online resources are available to assist teachers in creating the most beneficial educational visits, including activities which cover curriculum subjects; Maths, English, Geography, Art and Computing for Key Stages 1 and 2.
