International Day of Charity – Celebrating our local charity partner, Pompey in the Community

It’s International Day of Charity! As of February 2018, we have been partnered up with local charity, Pompey in the Community and today, we will be celebrating and appreciating everything that they do for our community here in Portsmouth!

Pompey in the Community harnesses the motivational power of Portsmouth Football Club to promote sporting participation, education, healthy living and achievements among people of all ages. Last season, across Portsmouth and the surrounding area, more than 37,000 people directly benefited from their programmes. They are also proud to have been named the 2017 EFL Community Club of the Year.

As a charity, Pompey in the Community’s mission is to inspire positive change amongst the most vulnerable people in Portsmouth and communities. They are ultimately here for everyone. They aim to achieve this mission by ensuring that all of their delivery and initiatives encapsulate their core goals: Inspiring Activity, Raising Aspirations, Inspiring our Community, Tackling Health, Engaging Everyone, Growing our Work, Developing our capabilities and Raising Awareness.

Throughout this year, Pompey in the Community have been a massive part of our activity schedule from being part of our ‘Stories from the City’ trail to Portsmouth Football Player meet and greets at the Tower and Portsmouth Proud events such as The Great Pompey Quiz.

Last weekend, the Pompey in the Community team even took to the side of the Tower for the ultimate challenge – the Spinnaker Tower, 100m abseil!

Pompey in the Community raised over £5,500 with fundraising during their abseil! To donate to Pompey in the Community, please visit their Just Giving page HERE.
